You and Your General Practice (YYGP)
You and your general practice (YYGP) has been developed to help patients understand what to expect from their general practice and how they can get the best from their GP team.
YYGP also enables patient to provide feedback or raise concerns with their GP Practice, Healthwatch or the integrated care board (ICB).
YYGP describes what practices and patients can expect of each other and gives suggestions on how patients can help practices by:
- Being prepared
- Being on time for appointments
- Cancel appointments as much in advance as possible
- Use the NHS App or website if able to and turn on notifications if using the App
- Order repeat medication on time so you don’t run out and only order what you need
YYGP also gives information on what kind of appointments you may be offered and also explains how you could receive more support from the practice to attend appointments. It also describes how patients and their representatives can give feedback or raise concerns.
All feedback is welcome. Feedback and concerns provide opportunities for learning, improvement and developing best practice. It can also improve job satisfaction and motivation for staff.
